MINT scholarship holders introduced: Jonathan Kirchner
Jonathan Kirchner is 19 years old and studies mechanical engineering at the TUD
- That's why I decided to study at TU Dresden:
The good national reputation and the proximity to home. - That excites me:
Understanding complex processes and technologies and perhaps in some cases trying to improve them. - STEM means to me:
Taking a critical and analytical look at assertions and questioning things based on evidence. - I was totally surprised in my first semester:
How well my school education actually prepared me for the requirements, so that the often-described 'practical shock' didn't materialize. - I would like to be able to answer these question(s) after my studies:
How I implement my own ideas technically so that they actually work in the end. - If you have a message for prospective and/or new students, what would it be?
That studying is the time to try things out. It's perfectly okay to choose a major based on your interests, even if the benefits aren't immediately obvious. Do what you want to do.
