The CKN Peer Program—Here’s How It Works!
Are you looking forward to our orientation week, but worried that you’ll get lost in the chaos of student life afterward? Would you like a mentor from your major who’s already navigated the early stages and can now give you some tips?
That’s exactly what the CKN Peer Program is for. We’ve put together a group of amazing people who would love to get to know you and support you on your journey at TUD. Once you’ve registered for our orientation week, you’ll receive a PDF in mid-September listing all the peers and a detailed description of how you can participate in our peer program. Of course, peer support is optional; you know best whether this offer will benefit you.
Do you already have specific needs during orientation week where you could use some support—such as being picked up from the bus and guided directly to our locations? Just send us an email or note your needs on our registration form!

My field of study: Psychology

Other: I’m studying psychology at TU Dresden and am particularly interested in mental health, neurodiversity, and stress and anxiety in everyday student life. I’ve already gained a lot of personal experience with college life and would love to share it with you. If you need support with your studies or navigating daily college life, I’d be happy to help in any way I can. I look forward to getting to know you!

Other: I have ADHD (diagnosed as an adult) and am quite open about it. I also have a lot of experience supporting neurodivergent people in my circle and advocating for their needs (as a biologist, I’m also a bit of a nerd when it comes to the scientific background of neurodiversity!).
I’m American, so I know what it’s like to navigate a new higher education system.

About Me: I’m more of a quiet soul who’s genuinely happy when someone asks me for help. Otherwise, I spend most of my time focusing on my studies despite having ADHD and dyslexia. That’s why I’ve already learned quite a bit about dealing with neurodivergence at University. For example, I’m familiar with applying for accommodations or finding therapy spots. To unwind, I like to go hiking or party to hardcore techno (the best of all music genres).

Other: Because of my neurodivergence, I had a hard time finding my way at the university. That’s why, before studying social pedagogy, I also took courses in physics, art history, and even a semester of sociology. But thanks to that, I now know my way around TUD really well and am always happy to help out when I have the energy :)

I am a yoga instructor and meditate; I’m very well connected in Dresden’s sustainability scene and do volunteer work. I can give you tons of tips on campus life, university sports(!), and everything else about Dresden!
