Accessibility at TU Dresden
TU Dresden is committed to socially promoting its members and to considering the special needs of employees as well as students with disabilities and chronic illnesses. Accordingly, equal participation is currently established by the TU Dresden Action Plan on the Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. These activities are reinforced by the TU Dresden quality goals.
Understanding accessibility
In the context of accessibility, the initial focus is always on the structural accessibility of the university. In the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, however, the term is defined more broadly and includes access “to the physical, social, economic and cultural environment, to health and education and to information and communication” (UN CRPD Preamble) for persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses and thus includes many other aspects and forms of accessibility. Not only structural, but also communicative, organizational, didactic, structural and intellectual obstacles play a special role.
