Accessibility at TU Dresden
TU Dresden is committed to contributing to the social advancement of its members and to taking into account the special needs of employees and students with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Equal participation is currently being shaped by the action plan for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. These activities are reinforced by TU Dresden's quality objectives.
Understanding of accessibility
In the context of "accessibility", the initial focus is always on the structural accessibility of the university. However, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities defines the term more broadly and includes "full access to the physical, social, economic and cultural environment, to health and education, and to information and communication" for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses (UN CRPD preamble, sentence V) and thus includes many other aspects and forms of accessibility. Not only structural barriers, but also communicative, organizational, didactic, structural and intellectual barriers play a special role.
