The Kino im Kasten is back in its "box"!
Starting in October, Kino im Kasten is back with regular film events in the auditorium on August-Bebel-Strasse 20.
Attention all fans of the good movie:
For the past 18 months, it was still a case of thinking "outside the box" and holding all cinema events at alternative venues (such as the Club Bärenzwinger or at the summer cinema on the HSZ meadow). As of October, this is now set to change. Films will once again be shown regularly in the traditional auditorium of the Kino im Kasten in August-Bebel-Strasse 20. High-quality university cinema in the immediate vicinity of the TU campus!
A varied program has been put together for the winter semester 2021/22. It starts on October 12 with "Dave Made a Maze", a playful independent film, whose dangerous creepy maze and nasty fantasy monsters were completely realized with household materials, such as fabric and (especially) cardboard. Fantasy fun and probably the best cardboard movie ever! On October 14 and 19, you can watch one of the defining films of the 2010s: "Drive", a neo-noir thriller full of stylish imagery.
In keeping with autumn, which is traditionally the season of horror films, the program in October and November will be dominated by a scary film series.
The first film in the series is the Japanese monster classic "Godzilla", a cult film with elaborate miniature effects and a surprisingly profound story, which deals with the Japanese nuclear trauma in an effective way.
The second film in the autumnal horror series is Wes Craven's "Nightmare on Elm Street", the first part of the cult Elm Street film series about the iconic villain Freddy Krueger, who invades the dreams of young people in order to kill them there. A masterpiece of the slasher film and a great classic of the genre film of the 80s, with Johnny Depp in his first screen role.
Inasmuch as a film is shown twice, the Thursday screening is in the original version (with or without subtitles, depending on the screening) and the Tuesday screening is in the German dub.
More information and the complete program can be found on the website "Kino im Kasten".
Note: The current Corona regulations of the TU Dresden apply to the attendance of the events.
