TUD Lectures: Highly automated driving - inclusion in the field of mobility
TUD Dresden University of Technology is actively committed to promoting inclusive mobility and invites interested parties and experts to the TUD Lecture on the topic of "Highly Automated Driving." Since the event had to be canceled due to the weather, it will now take place on April 9, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Citizen’s Lab of the City of Dresden (Kreuzstraße 2). As a special highlight of this TUD Lecture, an automated test vehicle that has already been used for passenger transportation in Leipzig will be exhibited and explained.
In rural regions in particular, highly automated driving opens up numerous opportunities to improve people's participation in mobility. However, how must networks, infrastructure and vehicles be designed so that this potential can be successfully realized? The Chair of Vehicle Mechatronics hosts several projects focusing on these issues. Some of them will be presented as part of the TUD Lectures, with a special focus on inclusion. Inclusive mobility refers to comprehensive and accessible methods of transportation that enable people to participate equally in the transport system regardless of their individual abilities, financial resources, or other societal characteristics.
Dr. Steffen Kutter, Head of the Automated Driving Group at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TUD, will present the latest developments and challenges in the field of highly automated driving. On the basis of the ABSOLUT and WALEMOBASE projects, he will focus in particular on the interface between technology and users for the presentation of inclusive mobility in suburban and rural areas, such as in Lusatia.
The lecture will provide an opportunity to find out about innovative approaches in the field of highly automated driving and to actively participate in the discussion on the inclusive design of mobility. The next TUD Lectures will take place starting in May and will be dedicated to the topic of "Societal Cohesion."
Time: April 9, 2024, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Location: Citizen’s Lab of the City of Dresden (Kreuzstraße 2)
TUD Lectures:
In 2021, Directorate University Culture launched the TUD Lectures event series, in which experts from various disciplines at TU Dresden take a closer look at current topics. After brief presentations, the experts will exchange ideas with interested members of the public. This TUD Lecture is one of four events in the series "United in diversity - Perspectives on inclusion and successful coexistence." The event is free and open to the public. It will be held in German. Citizens' Lab of the City of Dresden:
The Citizens' Lab of the City of Dresden is a central location with interactive facilities that enables the city administration and citizens to engage in discussions, actively participate in projects and developments and jointly develop sustainable and innovative ideas for modern urban society. The Citizens' Lab serves as a venue for initializing and generating ideas through which projects and developments from the city administration as well as from science and business can make an impact in the city districts.
As part of the "Smart Participation" measure in the "Smart City Dresden" model project, Dresden's citizens can also test selected digital applications from the city administration in the Citizens' Lab. The aim is to answer the following questions: How can the people of Dresden address their concerns and requests to the city administration in a quick and easy way? How will the administration be set up in the future to process these matters in a targeted and efficient manner?
