Event series "Courage – knowing, seeing, acting"
Democracy thrives on diversity, respect, and solidarity as well as a shared commitment to human rights and equality. With the continuing education series “Courage – knowing, seeing, acting”, TU Dresden invites its employees in particular to engage with current anti-democratic challenges, deepen their knowledge, and develop practical skills for their studies, teaching, and daily work. Through inspiring lectures, interactive workshops, and practical discussion formats, the series creates space for reflection, discussion, and practical insights — with the goal of strengthening an open, respectful, and discrimination-sensitive university culture.
The series is organized by the Center for Continuing Education, the Complaints Office for Incidents of Harassment, Discrimination and Violence as well as the unit University and Society.

With its own participation in the Unisafe research project, TU Dresden is addressing the phenomenon of sexualised harassment, discrimination and violence at universities. The workshop therefore begins with an overview of definitions and statistical figures. Project coordinator and workshop leader Anja Wiede then works with the participants on their own attitudes and possible prejudices on the topic. Nevertheless, the focus is on the support options for these incidents, because even if most people do not have to experience sexualised harassment, discrimination and violence as victims, many find themselves as so-called ‘bystanders’ ((un)aware witnesses). In the sense of a collective responsibility, the participants therefore develop their own intervention options.
Idea for 2027: Empowerment for People who have experienced Racism in english
Together with trainers who have themselves experienced racism and who have extensive knowledge of racism in this society, we would like to offer an empowerment space exclusively for people who have experienced racism. This space is intended to provide an atmosphere of well-being and safety where participants can share their experiences.
