MentoS: Mentor Day Saxony
Mentoring is of particular importance in the context of teacher training. The "MentoS: Mentor Day Saxony 2022" will take place on April 1st, 2022, in Dresden. The new format for mentors in Saxony creates a cross-phase and networking platform with differentiating points of contact for one's own mentoring.
- Topicality: Current challenges in teacher training, further education, and training will be discussed.
- Differentiation: Regardless of whether you are preparing for your first job as a mentor or a professional mentor: differentiated workshops offer interesting starting points.
- Needs orientation: At the "Market of Opportunities", actors from various areas of the teacher training field in Saxony come into contact with one another: Lecturers, trainers, and employees of the LASUB are available to answer your questions.
- Across all phases: closer integration of all three phases of teacher training: teacher training course - preparatory service - teacher training - in-service qualification.
- Networking: Engaging with other mentors, exchanging ideas, and enjoying networking will be another concern of the symposium.

Further information on mentor qualification
In order to prepare teachers and accompany them in their work, a concept was drawn up in 2010. It has been continuously developed since then and forms the basis for corresponding training offers. The training concept provides for the following offers:
Area I: | Being a mentor in teacher training |
---|---|
Area II: | Advice and support |
Area III: | Class observation |
Area IV: | Didactic offers |
Area V: | Supplementary offers |
In Area I, the participants will be made aware of their role as companions, supervisors, assessors, and innovators based on the KMK standards for teacher training. In Areas II and III, there will be an in-depth study of the subjects of "advice and support" and "lesson observation". Subject and vocational didactic offers in Area IV enable skills to expand about subject-specific and subject-related didactic aspects. In addition, there will be offers on selected educational or psychological topics in Area V.
You can also find an overview of all currently planned advanced training courses in the advanced training catalog of the State Office for Schools and Education. The overview is updated quarterly.
Teachers who have taken part in these training courses can work in both phases of teacher training. After participating in the advanced training courses in Areas I to IV, the State Office for Schools and Education (Radebeul location) will issue a certificate upon request.
