The ZIH drives a web mail client under the URL https://mail.zih.tu-dresden.de.
The user only needs his ZIH login name and password in order to
send and receive e-mails instantly. Often, the web mail client
provides additional features, for instance the setup of
automatical messages of absence, mail forwarding or spam
filters. However, web frontends generally work slower than
local mail clients, since both software information and email
traffic have to be handled via the internet connection. Usually
local e-mail clients also provide more functionality.
