Academic Teaching

Pflanzen aus dem Botanischen Garten tragen zur Lehre in vielen Bereichen der Universität bei.
The Botanical Garden is involved in the training of TU Dresden students in various Departments. The garden's curator, Dr. Barbara Ditsch, regularly offers courses in the Master's degree course in Biology. The Botanical Garden provides illustrative and experimental material for many other courses. Since April 2016, a seminar room has also been available for lectures and practicals on the grounds of the garden. Since 2024, the teaching school garden has complemented the offer as a teaching-learning location.
The following lectures and practicals take place in collaboration with the Botanical Garden or with material from the collection.
Bachelor Biology and Bachelor Molecular Biology and Biotechnology:
- Exercises on the anatomy and morphology of higher plants
- Large-scale practical course in functional morphology and systematics
- Practical course in plant physiology
Master Biology:
- Lecture "Biodiversity and evolution of angiosperms"
- Practical course "Dispersal Biology"
- Practical course "Flower biology"
Teacher training in biology:
- Practical teacher training in the teaching school garden newly opened in 2024(Chair of Didactics of Biology)
Geography teaching degree and vocational teaching degree in the Department of Nutrition and Home Economics:
- "BildungsAcker" in the teaching school garden, as a learning location for practical education as sustainable development (ESD)
Bachelor of Landscape Architecture:
- Plant science
Bachelor of Food Chemistry:
- Botany practical course
Psychology:
- Seminar on work and organizational psychology, conducting a work analysis in the Botanical Garden
Mechanical engineering, field of study work design:
- Fundamentals of occupational health and safety, exercise and semester assignment "Botanical Garden risk assessment" in the succulent house, cold house, potted plant area, annuals' quarter and office, summer semester 2014.
