Students of the ACCESS course "Structural use of glass " guest at Thiele Glas
Last week, the students of the ACCESS course 'Structural use of glass' under the direction of Prof. Dr. ir. Christian Louter made an excursion to Thiele Glas in Wermsdorf. In this plant, glasses up to lengths of 18 m are processed.
After an introduction by Mr. Jan Evers (Thiele Glas), the ACCESS students were guided through the production control hall. Here, glass panes were tested and different fragmentation patterns were demonstrated. The students also had the opportunity to try to destroy burglary-resistant glazing, but (luckily!) without success.
Afterwards the group visited the plant with the different glass processing machines. It was a very interesting insight into the subject glass. Mr. Evers from Thiele Glas was able to inspire us all for the material glass and the company.
