Large-scale robot-based 3D-printer in operation at the Institute of Building Construction
At the end of 2021 the large-scale 3D-printer was installed at the Institute of Building Construction. This equipment is funded through a succesfull InfraPro grant application at SAB - EFRE.
In a workspace of 4 x 2 x 3 m, components can be produced in close-to-reality formats. The flexibility of the robot arm enables projects in various sub-areas of construction industry research. In addition to the production of formwork elements for concrete or fibre composite components, the research focus of the Institute of Building Construction is on the use of stiffening structures in glass construction. The printer will be used for our research into thin glass composite panels and several other research projects within Civil Engineering and other disciplines.
