Kurt Beyer Award Ceremony on 22 October
On 22 October 2021, the Kurt Beyer Prize was awarded at 1:30 pm in the Dülfersaal of the TU Dresden. This prize is awarded annually to one or two outstanding theses/dissertations by students and young scientists in the field of civil engineering and architecture. This year the prize was awarded to:
Dr.-Ing. Anne Harzdorf
For the dissertation she wrote:
"Adaptability and Convertibility of Production Halls".
and
Mr. M. Sc. Daniel Blume
for the master's thesis he wrote:
"Prima Klima: Resilient Urban Green".
No award ceremony took place in 2020 due to corona. The two prize winners from 2019 were now honoured on 22 October 2021, these prizes were awarded to:
Ms. Dipl.-Ing. Maximila Anne Maria Ott
For the thesis she wrote:
"Pembroke College Library - Oxford"
and
Dipl.-Ing. Laura Drechsel
For the diploma thesis she wrote:
"Inspection and corrosion protection of predominantly normal force loaded overhead steel and composite bridge components".
The Kurt Beyer Award was donated by HOCHTIEF Construction AG in 1996 and has been awarded by HOCHTIEF Solutions AG since 2011. Prof. Kurt Beyer (1881 - 1952) is considered one of the profile-defining university teachers of the Technische Hochschule Dresden (now Technische Universität Dresden). He was an internationally recognised expert in the fields of steel construction and bridge building, among others. His most important theoretical work "Die Statik im Eisenbetonbau" (1927) is also called the "Beyer Bible". In 1952, the listed building that Martin Dülfer had erected between 1910 and 1913 for the civil engineering department of the TH Dresden was named after Kurt Beyer.
