4-column universal testing machine Z250
The universal testing machine Z250 is a 4-column testing machine for a variety of materials and components. It is just as suitable for research and development as it is for continual quality control. The testing machine consists of two fixed and one moving crosshead, which separates the upper from the lower test area. This allows different tests to be carried out without the need for major tool changes. For example, tensile tests are mainly carried out in the upper test area, and compression tests in the lower test area. The upper test area has three test axes with load capacities between 10 kN and 250 kN, depending on the accessories used. The lower test area with a load capacity of 250 kN has anchoring rails in which specimens with a length of up to 1.50 m can be fixed.
In addition to the classic static applications in the area of tensile tests, compression tests and bending tests under room temperature of usually 20 °C, it is also used with modified additions and conversions for elevated temperature tests in the Otto Mohr Laboratory. For example, tensile tests were carried out on carbon concrete specimens under high-temperature stress.
Due to the open test frame, the specimen can be inspected from all sides during the test. Additional measuring equipment can also be added without space constraints. During the test, the deformations are recorded via the crosshead or an extensometer and the required force is recorded with a load cell. A MultiXtens extensometer, a displacement measuring system that determines the change in length between two points, can be attached to the specimens.
In addition, the Otto Mohr Laboratory offers the possibility of measurement in 3D with two camera set-up and evaluation with the image correlation software ARAMIS. The sensors record coordinates, displacements and surface strains without contact and independent of the material. Thus, for example, the formation and development of crack patterns can be documented in detail.
