Queens of Structure: Female civil engineers form the prelude to the new science forum in the Kulturpalast
The Science Forum, which is currently under construction in front of the Kulturpalast Dresden, will be showing the "Queens of Structure" until July 15th: Twelve female civil engineers who represent the wide range of activities and topics of civil engineering with their projects. With their positions, they make the variety of challenges and individual approaches visible.
The unusual exhibition theme takes into account the double invisibility of women civil engineers because not only the contributions of women are rarely noticed - the achievements of the profession as a whole often remain hidden and are hardly appreciated. This includes the historical pioneers shown, who tried to penetrate the professional world that had long been closed to them with their interest in technical knowledge.
The "Queens of Structure" inspire with their passion for civil engineering and the naturalness with which they move in a male-dominated professional field. They seized opportunities, pushed ideas, and implemented them creatively. With their educational and exciting experiences, they are encouraging role models for future generations of civil engineers and can help them define their place in civil engineering and advance the profession.
The exhibition, organized by the Barkhausen Institute and the Chair of Industrial Design Engineering at the TU Dresden, also marks the start of the science forum run by the Barkhausen Institute, which, with its prominent location in the Dresden Kulturpalast, aims to promote intensive exchange with urban society on the topics of science and research.
