Employees of the IAK actively participate in the field of environment
The past weekend, some employees of the Institute for Waste and Recycling Management used to actively participate in the field of environment. The Association for Nature Conservation and Environment Germany had called for the third Prießnitzgrund cleanup in 2018 on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 11 am. Within 2 hours, the volunteers of the action were able to fill about 12 waste bags, which were subsequently collected by the employees of the Federation. In addition to dog waste bags, coffee cups and glass bottles, styrofoam balls were particularly problematic here, which were scattered along the Prießnitzbach.
Styrofoam is an extruded polystyrene that is a microplastic in the environment. This could be transported further through the aquatic pathway to the oceans.
In the future, a regular cleanup event will be held at various locations at the end of each month.
Following the Prießnitzgrund cleanup, the Institute participated in the event "Strong together against trash" in front of the "Scheune" in Dresden's Neustadt.
For this purpose, Berit Heller from the "Lose-Laden" in Dresden had organized a "silent demonstration", which was accompanied by information booths of various organizations.
The "Lose-Laden" on Böhmische Straße was opened in April 2015. Since then, the store has enjoyed many customers who want to buy their goods unpackaged in order to minimize individual packaging waste (see http://losedresden.wixsite.com/lose ).
A follow-up event is already planned for spring 2019.
