Lab-scale investigations of the start-up-phase of the biological Step of MBT-Plant Freienhufen
Lab-scale investigations of the start-up-phase of the biological Step of MBT-Plant Freienhufen
Cooperation/Client: Waste Disposal Association "Schwarze Elster"
Financial scope: 22.800 Euro
Duration: July 2007 - March 2008
Contact: Prof. Dr. Christina Dornack
Project description:
The "Schwarze Elster" waste disposal association operates a mechanical-biological waste treatment plant (MBT) at the Freienhufen site. In the biological part of the MBT, the organic fraction from the residual waste is subjected to anaerobic/aerobic treatment (hydrolysis - fermentation - aerobic post-treatment) after the material solubilizer and the separation of inerts and light and impurities.
Due to downtimes, the biology has to be restarted. This procedure was simulated in the laboratory and further investigations were carried out for optimized plant operation in the laboratory. As a result of the investigation results, recommendations for an efficient operation of the biological stage could be given to the large-scale plant.
