Catchment Hydrology Group

The catchment hydrology group dedicates to observation, analysis and model-based simulation of water and matter fluxes under changing boundary conditions. It is focused on understanding hydrological processes.

Stochastic Hydrology Group

The stochastic hydrology group addresses innovative methods for the simulation of coupled hydrosystems. Importent components are i.a. the identification of dominant sources of uncertainty, data value analysis, model based design of monitoring networks and possibilities and use of simplified proxy models for forecasting.

The applied hydrology group focuses on regional hydrology in arid regions, the integrated management of limited water resources and irrigation as well as interaction between hydrology and society.

The computational hydrology group develops new simulation based optimization methods for integrated water resources management and investigates management issues at limited water resources.

The Chair of Hydrology – a short presentation -

The chair of hydrology relies on a strong international and interdisciplinary team and has a central and integrative role within the College of Environmental Sciences, TU Dresden. Our strategic concept is process oriented and combines natural science with engineering science. This approach enables us to conduct fundamental research on hydrologic phenomena and processes under consideration of their complex interactions with the energy and matter cycles on all relevant scales. On this basis we thrive for innovative and applicable solutions to counter the globally worsening water threats and allow for a best practice sustainable management of water resources. Our high end research facilities comprise a soil lab, a mobile monitoring and sampling set, a GIS lab, a virtual modeling lab and a computer pool.
