Research Topics
Numerical simulation and measurement of urban climate:
* Application of urban climate models (ENVI-met) and
human-biometeorological models (RayMan, SOLWEIG) usind data of a
regional climat model (RCM: CCLM)
* Mobile and stationary measurement and numerical simulation of the
heat load of pedestrians in urban areas under the boundary
conditions of regional climate change (BMBF project
HeatResilientCity)
Modelling of the atmopsheric boundary layer:
* Further development of boundary layer models (one- and
two-dimensional versions of HIRVAC) with highly resolved vegetation
* Preparation of wind climatologies for Germany using a model chain of
meso- and micro-scale models, CCLM and HIRVAC (BMWi project
QuWind100)
Remote sensing of air flows, advection and internal gravity waves:
* Further development of acoustic travel-time tomography (spatially
resolved measurement of temperature and wind vector) for several
space-time scales (1 m ... 1 km) (DFG project SQuAd)
* Uncertainty and applicability of inverse reconstruction methods
* Acoustic measurement of advection and coherent structures in the
stably stratified atmospheric boundary layer
Atmospheric acoustics and environmental noise :
* Measurement and simulation of sound propagation in forest areas (DFG
project model chain, LfULG project forest sound III
* Simulation of the meteorological influence on the sound propagation
from different sources (including wind turbines): coupling of
meteorological and acoustic models
* Multi-channel measurement of sound propagation parameters
* Risk factor noise: evaluation and visualization of sound propagation
events
