Schedule
The detailed conference program is available now here. You can find an overview of the agenda, a session list, the list of presentations for every session, and you can browse the abstracts of all presentations.
Access to the full papers will be given to all registered participants one week before the conference starts. We will provide an access key to a password-protected website.
Guidelines for Speakers
- Each delegate is expected to present at most one paper.
- All presentations must be in English. There are no simultaneous translation facilities. Please speak slowly and clearly throughout your presentation to help those who are not native English speakers.
- A computer and a projector will be available in each session room. It will not be possible to use another computer for the presentation. A microphone and a laser pointer are also available.
- Each presentation is allocated a 20-minute time slot. The standard time allocation is 12-15 minutes for presentation and 5-8 minutes for Q&A. Please follow any additional instructions given by your session chairperson.
- Please be in the session room at least 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time of the session in order to upload your presentation on the available computer, check the compatibility of the presentation, and meet the chairperson. Please be prepared by having your presentation on a USB stick!
- If you prefer to use your own laptop for the presentation please be informed that there is only an HDMI-cable connection available in the presentation rooms. If your computer does not have a HDMI you need to bring an adapter to HDMI with you.
- Please name the file with your surname and your session ID (SURNAME_session.pdf).
- The computers used for presentations will have Microsoft PowerPoint and a pdf-viewer installed for presentation. We recommend all presenters to have a pdf-file as a backup, in case of any incompatibilities in versions. Please also check the compatibility of your presentation on the presenting computer before your presentation
- Presentations work best in 16:9 format.
- No internet connection will be available on the computer used for the presentation to download the presentation from a remote address, so please bring the Pdf file of your presentation on a USB flash drive.
Guidelines for Poster Presentations
During poster sessions, one author of each poster is expected to be available at his/her poster for presentation and answering questions. The posters will be exposed in the dedicated area.
-
Templates for posters
-
These are the main formatting rules
- Prepare poster on a single sheet of paper or similarly flexible material. The poster should be about 841x594mm in size (A1, vertical orientation).
- Keep content simple. A poster is a visual communication tool, not a manuscript. The viewer should be able to easily identify the primary concepts of the project without wading through a lot of text or complex formulas. Identify 3 or 4 main points or concepts to communicate.
- Present text in bullets or small chunks broken up by subheadings. Use at least 28–36 point bold sans serif font (e.g., Arial or Helvetica) for headers and 18–24 point font for text.
- Present information in columns. Arrange material in a logical sequence, from left top to bottom right. Two columns is a good target to shoot for.
- Offer a balanced mix of text and graphics. Too many words will result in people glossing over or simply bypassing your poster. A good rule of thumb is 50% text, 50% graphics and photos.
- Avoid acronyms and jargon. Simple language is best.
- Avoid dark-colored backgrounds. Use light colored backgrounds with black or very dark colored text. Graphics should similarly provide a stark contrast to be readable.
- Use simple graphics. Visuals should be large enough to be comfortably read from 1-2 meters away.
- Provide author name(s), organization logos and/or other acknowledgements to give credit to those who have done the work.
- Prepare a brief (up to 5 minutes) oral presentation for delivering to small audiences gathered around the poster.
A mini course on railway transport will be offered optionally to young researchers and other interested participants on April 1st, 2025.
You can find the technical visits on a seperate page, just click here.
