Posts at the stations
The training takes place at 8 stations along the railway network. Depending on the objective, certain posts and tasks can be simulated. The following posts and their associated tasks are primarily involved.
Dispatcher
The dispatcher (Fdl) ist responsible for an assigned station. All other parties involved at this station act within his area of responsibility. The main task is the safe, punctual and economical execution of train runs.
The size of the control areas is dependent on the respective interlocking. With mechanical or electromechanical interlockings, the dispatcher usually controls only one station. In relay interlockings and electronic interlockings, it is possible to operate several control points due to the technologically supported track monitoring.
Switchman
Legacy interlocking systems sometimes require the cooperation of several stations. The reasons for this are:
- Limited operating ranges when mechanically connected to outdoor equipment
- Limited track inspection areas for manual track monitoring
The additional interlockings to be supervised in addition to the dispatcher's commanding interlocking are manned by the so-called switchmen (WW).
Train announcer
The train announcer's tasks include reporting trains to the next train announcing station (Zmst), as well as offering and accepting train runs when using a track in two-directional operation. In the absence of a track block, there is also the additional task of reporting trains. These actions are performed in consultation with the responsible dispatcher and must be documented in the train registration book.
Shunting attendant
The shunting attendant supports the shunting process in rail operations. This essentially involves the pre- and post-processing of train runs. The tasks include coupling and uncoupling vehicles, operating local switches and securing parked vehicles. This is done in consultation with the dispatcher and the driver (Tf) involved.
