Seminars

Finally we can introduce our new seminar concept. In the winter semester of 2022/2023, students will no longer start their internships directly, as in previous years, but will receive 4 new seminars to introduce them to various aspects of rail operations. The aim of the new seminars is a more targeted focus on the learning objectives of the subsequent internships.

The 4 seminars cover the following topics:

•    Route formation and safeguarding in old technology
•    Route formation and safeguarding in new technology
•    Time elements and spacing procedures
•    line blocking and timetable

To better convey the seminar content, the teaching format was also changed. The content is no longer explained in a seminar room for everyone at the same time, but in small groups of 4-6 people directly in the laboratory. This made it possible to combine the lecture directly with practical demonstrations on the laboratory equipment. A digital whiteboard was purchased specifically for this form of teaching.
