Control of the system in the laboratory
For the operation of the lab, a system control with networked computers was developed at the TU Dresden.
The control system consists of:
- the central computer,
- the station computers,
- the vehicle computer and
- the interface computers.
This PC control allows:
- to automatically operate the entire system or parts of it,
- to drive and locate a train with a maximum deviation of 5 mm (corresponds to 1 m in the simulated model),
- the simulation of all train following procedures (train announcer, line block, line train control (LZB), ETCS up to level 3.
Each interlocking is connected to a station computer (Bfr). Different interlockings may be connected to one station computer to control the station.
The vehicle control computer simulates the running dynamics in accordance with the specified train characteristics to match the original.
The digital decoders with 31 speed steps (Selectrix) in the traction unit models allow the simulation of real world speeds from 1.2 km/h (e.g., class 346 in shunting gear) to 300 km/h (e.g., class 403).
