IFL at FABEC Research-Workshop: Interdependen­cies within ATM Performance in the context of a dynamic environment

For the third time, the Functional Airspace Block Europe Central (FABEC) organized a research workshop. This year, the workshop focused on the interdependencies in assessing performance within air traffic management. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Italian air navigation service provider ENAV.

The IFL's paper "Performance Target Setting for Air Traffic Management - Options and Limitations of an Academic Assessment Of a Complex Industry" critically reviewed the current benchmarking process of air navigation service providers and discussed alternative approaches, methods and metrics. The aim is to improve performance assessment for reference period 4 (RP4).

Prof. Fricke participated in the final panel round, which summarized the main challenges and findings. In particular, the trade-off between costs and capacity was addressed.
