Review - RotorDrone Forum 2025: Dresden research and SML construction activities presented
Experts presented pioneering developments in drone technology at the 6th RotorDrone Forum 2025 in Bückeburg. For two days, everything revolved around unmanned vertical take-off aircraft. For the sixth time, more than 120 renowned experts from industry, the military, police, rescue services, research and education from all over Germany came together at the Helicopter Museum for the Rotor Drone Forum to discuss the latest findings in terms of technology and safety. The relevance of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is also made clear by the strategy of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, which speaks of a "dawn of a new era of aviation". AAM describes the use of new aviation technologies - in particular eVTOL (electrically powered aircraft that can take off and land vertically) - and their integration into existing airspace structures. The Dresden Initiative for Smart Mobility Solutions(SML) presented projects such as a test center for autonomous drones and an urban drone traffic platform. The aim is to integrate drones into the urban environment and strengthen Dresden as a location for innovation.
The response to the RotorDrone Forum 2025 was overwhelming. Experts assume that the presentations on site will provide impetus as to how the strategy of unmanned aerial vehicles can be brought to life.
