Research Training Group RTG 2947 AirMetro
From May 1st, 2024, the TU Dresden will establish the scientific foundation for real-world traffic scenarios of this nature. The new research training group (RTG) at TU Dresden, focusing on the "Technical and Operational Integration of Highly Automated Aviation in Urban Areas" (RTG 2947), addresses the concept of "Advanced Air Mobility" (AAM) and its necessary technical and societal frameworks.
Researchers from five faculties at TU Dresden (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences/Geosciences, and Transportation Sciences), along with the Institute of Flight System Technology at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), form the leadership team of the graduate school, enabling a high level of interdisciplinary education and research.
A total of 33 doctoral projects, spread across eleven interconnected research themes and spanning nine years (1st and planned 2nd funding period), are associated with the graduate school. The research consortium, comprising early-career researchers and established scholars, aims to develop a scientific concept for a highly automated Advanced Air Mobility system in the third dimension, considering technological, economic, and social aspects.
