What is Statistics?

  • A fruit vendor at the weekly market claims that his apples weigh 100 grams. After buying 10 pieces from him, you find out that the apples weigh on average only 99 grams. Did the fruit vendor lie?

  • New Müsli claims that the average fill weight of their cereal packages is at least 500g. Echt-Bio Food Corporation will return a delivery if the average weight is lower.

  • Does taking aspirin on a regular basis reduce the risk of heart attack?

  • Can blood pressure levels be used to predict life expectancy?
