Application
Step 1:
- After the application deadline, visit the online application pages.
- After answering the questions in the application form, you will be taken to the relevant application portal.
- At the end of your data entry, you must submit your online application.
- You will then be asked to print out your cover letter with your application number.
Step 2: (Aptitude assessment or selection procedure)
For the application to the aptitude assessment or selection procedure required for your degree program, you must send the documents in accordance with § 4 of the aptitude assessment regulations (English version: here) to the address below within the specified deadline. Please note that your application number from the online application must be included in your application documents.
Aptitude assessment procedure
The admission requirements for the Master's degree program in Transportation Economics and Data Science are regulated in § 2 of the aptitude assessment regulations (English version: here).
According to § 5, special aptitude for the program is present if the following conditions are met:
- Acquisition of at least 60 ECTS from the subject areas of Business Administration (BWL), Economics (VWL) and quantitative methods (mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, programming, data analytics) with no overlapping content, of which:
- at least 15 ECTS credits from the subject area of economics, including at least 6 ECTS credits in microeconomics
- from the Department of Quantitative Methods at least 20 ECTS credits, including at least 6 ECTS credits in Statistics and 4 ECTS credits in Operations Research, Optimization and Programming
- at least 15 ECTS credit points from the subject area of Business Administration.
- If there are more than 30 non-overlapping credit points in quantitative methods, the required credit points for Business Administration can be reduced to the same extent:
- the required credit points for Business Administration by up to 10 ECTS credit points and
- the required credit points for Economics by up to 5 ECTS credit points.
- The minimum number of ECTS credit points to be demonstrated in the subject area of advanced quantitative methods can be reduced to up to 15 ECTS credit points if the same number of ECTS credit points are demonstrated in the subject area of traffic, transportation and logistics.
The admission committee will check proof of special aptitude on the basis of the documents enclosed with the application. The documents to be submitted are described in detail in Section 4 (2) of the aptitude assessment regulations (English version: here). In accordance with § 4 para. 2 no. 1, the signed application form "Application for assessment of special aptitude" must also be submitted to .
Application deadlines
Studies begin in the winter semester.
Application deadlines for enrollment:
- for EU applicants: April 1 to July 15 of the respective year
- for non-EU applicants: April 1 to May 31 of the respective year

Applicants with a non-EU citizenship who have obtained their university degree (Master's entrance qualification) at a foreign university.
If your first university degree is not yet complete by the end of the application deadline, you can also apply for a further degree program in accordance with the TU Dresden enrollment regulations if you can already prove 80% of the credit points achievable through the university degree on the basis of completed module examinations or the final thesis and, if applicable, the colloquium by means of a certificate from the university of origin (Examination Office). If you do not have your degree by the start of the first semester, your enrolment will be limited until the end of the first semester on condition that you provide proof of your first university degree by then(information on this).
Attention Master's students who have not yet passed the Bachelor's examination at the TUD
As a student enrolling for a Master's degree at the Admissions Office, you only need to submit a parallel study application to the Admissions Office if you have not yet registered for any outstanding examinations.
You must also submit an application for parallel studies if you have registered your Bachelor's thesis in the summer semester but will not submit it until the winter semester.
The form for the parallel degree program must be submitted to the Admissions Office.
