Application
Step 1:
- Please visit the online application page once the application period has started.
- After answering the questions in the application section, you will be guided to the corresponding application portal.
- After you have entered your data, you need to submit your online application.
- You will then be asked to print out your cover letter with your application number.
Step 2: Application for the Aptitude test or NC selection
For your application for the aptitude test or selection procedure required for your degree programme, you must send documents according to § 4 of the aptitude assessment regulations (english version here) to the address below within the specified period. Please be advised that your application number from the online application is included in your application documents.
Aptitude Assessment
The admission requirements for the Master's programme in Transport Economics are mentioned in § 2 of the aptitude assessment regulations (english version: here). According to § 2 No. 2, proof of special aptitude for the degree programme must be provided in accordance with § 5. This proof includes:
- Acquisition of at least 60 ECTS from the fields of business administration, economics and quantitative methods (mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, programming, data analytics), of which:
- from the field of economics at least 15 credit points, including at least 4 credit points in microeconomics
- from the Department of Quantitative Methods at least 15 credit points, including at least 4 credit points in Statistics and 4 credit points in the subject group Operations Research, Optimization and Programming
- at least 15 credit points in Business Administration.
- If there is a total of more than 30 non-overlapping ECTS in quantitative methods, it can be reduced to the same extent:
- the required ECTS for business administration by up to 10 ECTS and
- the required ECTS for economics by up to 5 ECTS
The admission committee checks the evidence of particular aptitude on the basis of the documents enclosed with the application. The documents to be submitted are described in detail in § 4 Para. 2 No. 1of the aptitude assessment regulations (english version: here). In accordance with § 4 Para. 2 No. 1, the signed "Form for the aptitude assessment" must be submitted with the other documents.
Application deadlines
The programme begins in the winter term.
Application deadlines for enrolment:
- for EU applicants: 1 April to 15 July of the respective year
- for non-EU applicants: 1 April to 31 May of the respective year

Application until 31 May by:
Applicants with a citizenship outside the EU who have obtained their university degree (Master's entrance qualification) at a foreign university.
If your first university degree has not been completed by the end of the application deadline, you can also apply for an advanced degree programme according to the Regulations for Enrolment/Registration of the TU Dresden if you can already prove 80% of the credit points attainable through the university degree on the basis of completed module examinations or also the final thesis and, if applicable, the colloquium by means of certification from the university of origin (examination office). If you do not have your degree by the beginning of the first semester, your enrolment will be limited until the end of the first semester with the condition that you provide proof of your first university degree by then (click here for further information).
Attention Master students who have not yet passed the Bachelor's examination at the TUD
As a student who registers for the Master's degree at the Enrolment Office, you only need to submit a parallel study application to the Enrolment Office if any outstanding examinations have not yet been registered.
You must also submit a parallel study application if you registered your Bachelor's thesis in the summer term but will not submit it until the winter term.
The form for parallel study must be submitted to the Enrolment Office.
