Retirement of Professor Marco Lehmann-Waffenschmidt
On October 1, 2022, Prof. Dr. Marco Lehmann-Waffenschmidt, long-time holder of the Chair of Managerial Economics, will retire.
Prof. Dr. Marco Lehmann-Waffenschmidt came to the TU Dresden in 1993, the year the Faculty of Business and Economics was reestablished, heading the Chair of Managerial Economics since then. He taught and conducted research primarily in the fields of evolutionary economics, microeconomic equilibrium theory, sustainability economics, and philosophy of science. He also paid special attention to behavioral and experimental economics. Using cross-cultural and classroom experiments, he investigated, among other things, the deceleration of production and consumption processes.
Experimental economics was also a defining part of his teaching program. His courses on game theory, behavioral economics, and industrial economics were very popular with students and highly demanded. Moreover, his Chair offered the introductory course in Microeconomics for many years.
In total, Prof. Dr. Lehmann-Waffenschmidt has supervised and successfully completed a total of 16 doctoral projects. He also promoted the training of young scientists through his long-term scientific and organizational leadership of the Buchenbach Workshop on Evolutionary Economics and the International Workshop on Evolutionary Economics (in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Economics in Jena).
The faculty would like to sincerely thank Prof. Dr. Lehmann-Waffenschmidt for his work in almost 30 years at the TU Dresden and wish him all the best for his retirement.
