DDc Science Tram
Already for the fourth time - this time following the Fridays-for-Future demonstrations on May 24, 2019 - the DDc Science Tram of DRESDEN-concept invited interested citizens and especially students of the Fridays-for-Future demonstrations to discuss with scientists the topic "Climate change, energy system transformation and sustainability - we have a responsibility!”. On the part of the TU Dresden, PRISMA - Centre for Sustainability Assessment and Policy, the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Sustainability Management and Environmental Accounting as well as the 3rd Boysen - TU Dresden - Research Training Group 'Mobility in Transition' contributed to the DDc Science Tram.
Dr. Anne-Karen Hueske discussed what sustainability means, how sustainability can be measured and how it can be implemented in everyday life. The topics were manifold like mobility (car, bike, public transport), vegan or local eating habits, what is expected from the state or the city and what we as private individuals can do. It was about the conscious use of resources or consumption and nudging (how can sustainable behavior be motivated).
Bjoern Verse presented the Boysen - TU Dresden – Research Training Group and his doctoral project on sustainability assessment of new business models in the transport sector to the passengers. He reported on the opportunities and challenges of new mobility products and services such as ridepooling, free-floating car sharing as well as e-scooters and bike sharing and under which conditions these offers can contribute to a more sustainable development of transport, especially in cities. The passengers were stimulated to discuss possibilities for changing their own mobility behavior and the transport policy framework conditions in German cities.
