Program Content

The Master’s program in Business Education and Management Training takes an interdisciplinary approach to the question of how economic concepts can be taught to different target groups. The program is structured so that you can deepen your knowledge in your own areas of interest by specializing in specific fields of Business Administration and Economics and other disciplines. This also means you have the choice between Track I, which focuses on in-depth studies in Business Administration and Economics, and Track II, which prepares you for a career in teaching.

Majors

A major focus of the program is, of course, Business Education and Management Training, which you will study at an advanced level. In addition, the Master’s in Business Education and Management Training offers ample opportunities to tailor your studies to your individual interests. In the required elective area of Business Administration and Economics, you can freely combine business administration and economics modules in both tracks and integrate them into the economics profiles

• Learning and Human Resources Management,
• Management and Marketing,
• Operations and Logistics Management,
• Public and International Economics , and
• Sustainability Management and Energy Economics

Another major focus of the program is the general education track in Study Track II. If you’re pursuing a career as a teacher at vocational schools, you can choose from the following seven subjects:

Study Abroad

Would you like to study abroad for a semester or longer? No problem, thanks to the faculty’s numerous contacts and partnerships with foreign universities. The Erasmus program alone currently includes over 60 partner universities. In addition, the faculty and TU Dresden maintain contacts with universities from virtually every part of the world.

Thanks to learning agreements and the flexible elective-required course structure, the recognition of credits earned abroad is straightforward. Financial support is also available. In addition to the PROMOS scholarships awarded at the university level, the Prof. Endriss Prize has for years supported study abroad stays in a targeted manner for students in the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Master’s in Business Education and Management Training—and then what?

A Master’s in Business Education and Management Training opens up a wide range of career opportunities: in corporate training and continuing education, educational counseling, adult education, or various commercial and administrative roles within companies (e.g., human resources management).

With a degree in Field of Study II, it is also possible to complete a teaching internship and teach at a vocational school.

High-achieving graduates also have the option of pursuing not only careers in business but also academic careers through a doctoral program.

A quick note before we begin: Lydia studied in the old degree program, where some course titles were different from today’s and some courses have since been replaced. Her account still gives a good sense of what it’s like to study there today!

The Location of the Program

At the Faculty of Business and Economics, you’ll study on the main campus of TU Dresden in the Südvorstadt district. The chairs, the Dean's Office, and the Academic Affairs Office are located in the historic Georg-Schumann-Bau and the adjacent Hülße-Bau. Most of your courses in Business Administration and Economics as well as in Business Education and Management Training will also take place in these buildings. Like the rest of the campus, the Georg-Schumann Building and the Hülße Building are easily accessible by public transportation or bicycle.
