Maturity model to support the digitalization program within the scope of the "Pact for the Public Health Sector
The need for digitizing of public health departments is recently demonstrated in the COVID 19 pandemic. The “ReDiGe” project was launched to help digitise public health departments using a step-by-step approach. Therefore, this project aims to develop a literature- and empirical-based maturity model that forms the basis for the focused digitalization of public health departments. The maturity model is designed to enable public health departments to measure their own level of digital maturity, and to derive specific guidance for further modernization and digitalization. The maturity model was developed in a participatory process with more than 50 public health departments and other stakeholders. The result can now be used to analyze the current level of digitization and define a target level of digitization. Furthermore, specific digitization projects can be derived from the maturity model as well as specific recommendations for action.
The project is conducted by scientists from the Project Group Business and Information Systems of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT, the research group digital health (TU Dresden), and the Freie Universität Berlin.
