IT-Services
Modern life science ist data-rich and demands high computing power. Technologies such as Imaging and Deep Sequencing produce a large amounts of raw data within a very short time, which needs to be stored continuously. Because of the high operational costs for such technologies, the probability of possible IT-failures needs to be reduced to a minimum. To achieve this, we use highly performant in-house network- and storage solutions. Through their setup we can guarantee best performance, high reliability and very short service response times.
Research areas as Bioinformatics and Machine Learning base on big data analysis. This requires quick data access and fast and parallel data processing. Therefore, the CMCB offers its scientists an in-house computation solution. It is directly managed and supported by our system administrators, who work very close to science and quickly realize user specific adaptations.
Our service team manages the IT infrastructure of the CRTD, BIOTEC, B CUBE and the cluster of excellence "Physics of Life" (PoL). We collaborate closely with the ZIH and other units of the TU Dresden, the DZNE, the UKD, the MPI-CBG and other partners to provide optimal services to our users.
We offer services to all our internal research groups, such as:
- Wired and wireless network access
- Managed file services
- Management of client and instrument computers (including base setup, installation and maintenance of software, trouble shooting, hardware repairs)
- Web Applications to support teaching, research and administration
- Unix compute servers
- Institute and research-group web sites and the Intranet
- Solutions for high-volume data exchange with internal and external partners
Please check out the IT services pages on our intranet to learn more.
