Writing data management plans for grant proposals - How to best meet the requirements of EU, DFG, BMBF and Co. (in English)
This talk is primarily aimed at researchers who are planning a research proposal in a collaborative project. We will first introduce the concept of a DMP, the requirements of the funding institutions and what a DMP should contain. We will discuss which points should be agreed upon in advance with the collaborators of a research project and what needs to be considered when writing DMPs.
You can access the learning videos by clicking on the individual questions.
The requirements for a data management chapter are addressed in the introduction to the topic. The requirements of research practice, the specifications of the research organization and the funding institution play a role here.
Writing Data Management Plans for Grant Proposals - Introduction
This part of the video explains what points need to be addressed in a data management plan: Who collaborates how (closely) with whom? Which data is generated and and how? Where is the data stored securely? How is data shared? How is data made FAIR? Who is responsible for data management?
Writing Data Management Plans for Grant Proposals - What to Write
In this part of the video we give some suggestions on how to collect and structure all relevant points for the data management plan.
Writing Data Management Plans for Grant Proposals - How to Start
In this part of the video, we briefly summarize and recommend the next steps.

The ZIH infrastructure I can use for secure storage and sustainable management of my research data (in English)
This talk is aimed at all researchers and scientific support staff of TU Dresden. Systematic research data management provides support for daily research activities in fulfilling good scientific practice (GSP) and thus enables the traceability, reproducibility, and reusability of scientific research. Secure storage, organization, archiving and sharing of research data are key aspects in this sense. This 5-part lecture will therefore present the various storage systems at the ZIH (Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing) at TU Dresden. The presentation will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the individual systems and how they can support research data management when it comes to data storage, data security, backup, collaborative research and data archiving.
At the beginning, some terms are clarified and it is explained how a backup can be set up in the ZIH infrastructure for your own local work PC in order to store data securely.
ZIH-Infrastructure for Research Data Management - Introduction
The second part explains which central network drives the ZIH of TU Dresden offers and how these can be used for secure data storage.
ZIH-Infrastructure for Research Data Management - Central Storage
The third part introduces the cloud services Datashare and SharePoint within the ZIH infrastructure. The main focus is on how data is stored there in a traceable manner and how documents can be worked on together.
ZIH-Infrastructure for Research Data Management - Cloud Services
The fourth part presents how to manage and version your own code, scripts and documentation. The possibility of using virtual machines and high-performance computing is briefly discussed, as well as the TU's own repository OPARA for archiving and publishing data.
ZIH-Infrastructure for Research Data Management - Data Processing
Finally, the basic components of research data management are presented and linked to the IT components mentioned, as well as to other platforms, services and tools in the TU Dresden infrastructure and beyond.
