More opportunities for start-ups at TUD: Cooperation agreement signed to expand the TUD|excite Innovation Hub
Company founders need expertise, space and resources to develop their ideas into viable business models – especially when they are just getting started out. The start-up ecosystem TUD|excite Innovation Hub in TU Dresden’s Andreas Schubert Building offers ideal conditions thanks to its network of committed partners. On June 18, 2024, this network was expanded with the signing of a cooperation agreement by Prof. Andreas Pinkwart, Director of the TUD|Excellence Center for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TUD|excite), and Katrin Stump, Director General of the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB). TUD Chancellor Jan Gerken co-signed the agreement. SLUB Dresden will thus strengthen the TUD|excite Innovation Hub with its diverse infrastructure and services as well as its expertise in information, knowledge transfer and open science.
“With this cooperation, we are resolutely pursuing our chosen course, which is to strengthen TU Dresden’s ecosystem for start-ups by drawing on our existing resources and expertise,” says Prof. Pinkwart. “We also want to increase the visibility of our services to inventors, innovators and start-ups and reduce the barriers to using them. I would like to thank the SLUB for accompanying us on this journey with its expertise and services.”
“We are delighted that we will be able to provide even better support for start-ups in the future through our cooperation with the TUD|excite Innovation Hub. Whether it's for meet-ups in the library, new technology in the SLUB Makerspace or a co-working office in our Open Science Lab: By sharing knowledge and connecting people, we can also strengthen innovation,” says Katrin Stump, General Director of the SLUB Dresden.
Specifically, the cooperation agreement covers the use of services such as the SLUB Makerspace, the SLUB Open Science Lab, the podcast and green screen studios as well as seminar and event rooms by prospective entrepreneurs. For example, the SLUB Makerspace can be used as a workshop for the production of prototypes. It also offers space for meetings or events involving larger groups. The SLUB's Open Science Lab has a large number of individual workstations, parent/child workstations, group and seminar rooms of various sizes and a large break room with a kitchen.
In addition, events promoting dialog between start-ups and the public will be created with the participation of the SLUB and the effectiveness of the TUD|excite Innovation Hub will be evaluated.
