Mentoring Programs
Mentoring programs for doctoral candidates and postdocs at the TU Dresden
What does mentoring mean?
Mentoring means the targeted support of a person (mentee) by a experienced specialist or manager (mentor). In the university context, mentoring is not understood as a substitute for scientific supervision, but rather as a supplement. The personal exchange takes place in a protected setting, without hierarchy and dependent relationships. Other requirements for the mentoring relationship are a voluntary basis, open-mindedness, confidentiality, respect, agreed degree of availability and commitment.
Overview of the Mentoring programs for doctoral candidates and postdocs at the TU Dresden
Mentoring program Academia
With the mentoring program Academia we want to support postdocs with their personal and professional development and academic career planning. We offer opportunities for reflection, feedback, networking and further qualification to master the next step of a scientific career successfully. The program is hosted by the Postdoc Center of the TU Dresden.
Mentoring-program for female scientists in DFG-funded projects
The mentoring program is offered to support the personal development and professional careers of young female scientists from DFG-funded projects at TU Dresden. Funding is provided from the equal opportunities funds of these projects.
Mentoring-Programm Join Science
For early-career researchers from the Clusters of Excellence and DFG-funded research areas at TU Dresden, the Mentoring-Programm Join Science is a valuable opportunity to share their acquired knowledge and previous experience with students. At the same time, they can reflect on their own careers, expand their own network and further develop their skills in science communication.
YOU PROF - Young Professors Programme
The Young Professors Programme offers all TU Dresden junior professors and holders of Tenure Track positions a comprehensive, target-oriented and individually tailored guidance on the way to a life-long chair. One component of the program is mentoring, which consists of collegial mentoring and professional mentoring by internal and external experts.
