Law Professor Prof. Anne Lauber-Rönsberg of TUD Dresden University of Technology was elected by the Saxon State Parliament as a deputy non-judicial member of the Constitutional Court of the Free State of Saxony at the suggestion of the State Parliament Presidium.
"This is where important and groundbreaking issues are negotiated. And the same also applies to the use of digital technologies, which increasingly raise questions within the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court and necessitate clarification. For example, the question of video surveillance in public places,” highlights Prof. Lauber-Rönsberg. “But there are also constitutional issues beyond this which I would like to help clarify.”
Anne Lauber-Rönsberg has been a full professor at TUD since 2021 and holds the Chair of Civil Law, Intellectual Property, Media and Data Protection Law. The Dresden law professor is also Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science and Managing Director of the Institute of International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law.
Minister of Justice Katja Meier “Constitutional review at the state and federal level is one of the central foundations of our constitutional framework. The Saxon Constitution assigns this vital function to the Constitutional Court in Saxony. For over thirty years, the Constitutional Court has decisively shaped our Free State with its jurisprudence. For this reason, I am delighted that the State Parliament has chosen three outstanding legal scholars today, thus strengthening the system of constitutional review in Saxony. Especially on the eve of the 75th anniversary of our Basic Law [German: Grundgesetz], we should not forget that a strong constitutional review is an indispensable component of our democratic constitutional state.”
