Evaluation Perspective Land (PerLa)
Due to the demographic structure of its teaching staff, among other things, the Free State of Saxony has been faced with a significant shortage of qualified teachers for several years. Based on a comprehensive literature analysis with the question "What makes rural areas attractive for young professionals?"[1], recommendations for action were developed for the Saxon State Ministry of Culture (SMK), the German Children and Youth Foundation (DKJS) and the local authorities.
One component of teacher recruitment is the DKJS's "Perspektive Land" study support program, which includes individual measures such as excursions and work shadowing trips to rural areas, funding for internships in the regions of need, supplementary qualifications and corresponding public relations work.
The Chair of Social Education and Didactics of Social Education will carry out an external evaluation of these measures from 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2024 in order to review the orientation of the program with regard to the intended achievement of objectives and to derive current recommendations for action for the continuation and further development of the program.
