11.07.2024: Variants of reconstructive social work research from below and on its own behalf - Prof. Dr. habil. Gerhard Riemann
In the Advisor's presentation, he looks back on how various forms and settings of reconstructive social work research have emerged in his work with social work students at three training institutions over the course of more than three decades, which have helped students to acquire (case) analysis skills for their own professional practice in social work. Conducting and analyzing narrative interviews and self-reflective ethnographic practice protocols played a special role in this. The lecture deals with
(a) the emergence of research workshops in the early 1980s (in collaboration with
Fritz Schütze),
(b) forms of "alienation of one's own practice" on the basis of ethnographic protocols, which emerged primarily in the course of internships, and
(c) impromptu narratives by students about their practical experiences, which they then analyzed together with fellow students.
This last variant is dealt with in more detail using an example, and in this context considerations are made on the integration of ethnographic practice and narrative analysis. The Advisor sees "suggestions from the margins" here: Impulses for a reorientation of ethnographic research in general.
