Become a vocational school teacher
The direct route to a later career as a vocational school teacher is the university course Teacher Training - Vocational Schools. This concludes with the first state examination, which in turn requires vocational training or at least one year of work in the chosen first department.
However, not all paths are direct. This is why additional study options have been and are being developed, particularly for the industrial-technical teaching profession, which offer alternative paths depending on personal circumstances:
TechLA - Technical Teacher Training - Vocational Schools
- Teacher Training - Vocational Schools is of interest to students with or without a vocational qualification who wish to teach in a vocational school. This undergraduate degree program gives you the opportunity to deepen your enthusiasm for technology in a department of your choice, acquire the know-how for didactic knowledge and also study a second subject according to your interests.
TechLA+ - Teacher training with a vocational qualification
- TechLA+ (formerly KAtLA) is particularly interesting for students on the Teacher Training - Vocational Schools degree program without vocational training or with little practical work experience.
IngPäd+ - Start of teacher training in the region
- IngPäd+ (formerly OptLA) is particularly interesting for people with an industrial-technical education or professional experience who want to gain engineering and teaching qualifications close to home. Building on this, they can aim to enter the civil service as a teacher at vocational schools.
SchulAQ - school assistance in qualification
- SchulAQ is of interest to vocationally qualified people with advanced training, such as technician or master craftsman qualifications, who want to take another career step and move from the company to the vocational school.
