General information
A stay abroad at one of the numerous partner universities is also recommended for students of the Department of Philosophy in order to gain international experience, improve their foreign language skills or make new contacts. To support student mobility, a wide range of funding opportunities are offered, which enable students to study or do an internship at host universities in European (ERASMUS+) and non-European (DAAD programs or TU Dresden cooperation agreements) countries. Preparatory or accompanying language courses are often specially funded.
In principle, such a stay abroad can be started at any time after the acquisition of sufficient subject and language skills that allow successful participation in the courses. For students on the Bachelor's degree course in Philosophy, the 5th semester is particularly suitable for this; on the Master's degree course, the profile area in the 3rd semester is intended for study abroad. It is also possible to study abroad as part of a teacher training course, e.g. in the 4th semester.
The coursework completed at European partner universities is easily recognized as equivalent to the coursework required by your TUD study regulations upon application due to participation in the ECTS. In most cases, this also applies to periods of study and examinations at universities outside Europe.
An overview of all funding programs can be found on the pages of the International Office: Overview of programs and funding opportunities
Information on funded internships abroad can be found at the LEONARDO office (see here).

Further funding programs
Students interested in studying abroad outside Europe can take advantage of the offers of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In addition to one-year DAAD scholarships for students from the 4th semester onwards and some special calls for applications, which can be submitted directly to the DAAD (see here), PROMOS scholarships are also offered for shorter stays. PROMOS applicants are selected by TU Dresden (for further information see here).
The international regional ambassadors of TU Dresden
Would you like to get first-hand information about your host country?
Ask someone who knows the local area: More than 470 TUD alumni of TU Dresden as regional ambassadors. They have returned to their home countries after completing their studies and are available there as contacts. They make it easier to get started locally, provide information on conditions in the host country, help to arrange internships or provide support in making contacts.
Contacting them is very easy: markers on an interactive world map show the places where the regional ambassadors live. A short profile is provided for each one - so you can easily get in touch with them:

Curious to find out who they are? Some of them can be seen on the TU-TV channel on youtube.
