Panel Presentation "‘Go ahead, be a monster. You deserve it.’ – The Sardonically Angry Voice of Why I am Not a Feminist: A Feminist Manifesto (2017)"
Laura Handl gives a talk entitled "'Go ahead, be a monster. You deserve it.' - The Sardonically Angry Voice of Why I am Not a Feminist: A Feminist Manifesto (2017)" as part of the panel "'Sensing' Affect: Voice and Tone in US Literature and Culture" at the 68th Annual Conference of the German Association for American Studies (DGfA). The theme of the conference is Soundscapes and took place from 23.05. to 25.05.24 at the University of Oldenburg. Laura Handl argues that Why I am not A Feminist: A Feminist Manifesto (2017) utilizes anger as a mode of communication between writer and reader and draws a parallel between the contemporary manifesto and Joanna Russ' historical feminist text How to Suppress Women's Writing (1983).
