LinguisTikTok: Linguistic Research on TikTok
24 – 26 March 2025, Dresden
The increasing popularity and popular cultural relevance of the TikTok video platform opens up numerous perspectives for linguistics, from multimodality research and digital discourse analysis to more specific questions such as the role of TikTok in the spread of conspiracy theories and disinformation. TikTok has also established itself as a platform for scientific communication in the field of linguistics.
The international conference aims to bundle current linguistic TikTok research and bring together scholars doing research on TikTok and creators who use TikTok for the popularisation of linguistics. Keynotes will be given by Rodney Jones (Reading, UK) and Ruth Page (Birmingham, UK).
Abstracts can be submitted until 13 September 2024. You can find the detailed Call for Papers here.
