The research-oriented teaching concept of the Chair of Modern German Literature and Media Culture Studies is based on the fundamental assumption that learning and knowledge content, perspectives and methods relating to media culture studies, as well as the ability to think critically and engage in productive scientific practice, are best acquired in the form of interdisciplinary motivated work.

Research

The core research areas of the Chair of Modern German Literature and Media Culture Studies are derived from the research interests of Prof. Dr. Lars Koch and his staff. Cultural-theoretical questions about the aesthetics and social functions of literature, popular media and the modern arts play a central role.

Welcome

The Chair of Modern German Literature and Media Culture Studies is interested in issues at the intersection of media and cultural theory, aesthetics and (cultural) narratology. It researches the political and emotional dimensions of literature, film and TV series, deals with popular cultural phenomena as well as 'high culture' and assumes that its subjects can only be comprehensively understood if they are historically classified and discursively contextualized.

  • Under no circumstances should theybe placed in any of the mailboxes in front of the W48 building entrance.
