Note: Studying under difficult conditions
Students studying under difficult circumstances have the option to apply for enrollment in certain courses before the regular enrollment deadline.
To apply, fill out the “Application for Special Circumstances” form, which can be submitted via email to the Student Advising Office by September 14, 2026. You can find the form under “Priority Registration ” in OPAL
Up to three events can be nominated. Two aspects must be conclusively explained in the application:
- The "aggravated conditions": health and family burdens in combination with a high semester of study are considered as such. In addition, the need to submit a certificate of achievement for the receipt of benefits according to BAföG § 9 after the 4th semester can be taken into account.
- that academic success is jeopardized if the courses in question cannot be attended.
Both conditions must be fulfilled. There is still no guarantee for a desired seminar.
A special regulation also applies to students who are in the 5th semester in the winter semester or the 6th semester in the summer semester and have not yet been able to attend the introduction to language and/or literature didactics. These students can indicate which introductory seminar they would like to attend after providing proof of the number of semesters they have studied. This also applies to students who have no supervision obligations.
