Douglas Cairns (Edinburgh) becomes Senior Fellow at TUD

In the internal selection process at TUD, the joint nomination of Douglas Cairns by Institutes of Classical Philology (Mario Baumann) and Ancient History (Christoph Lundgreen) was successful. We are delighted to once again welcome one of the most renowned scholars in the field of Greek history and literature to Dresden and look forward to the joint projects and plans in 2024 and 2025.

Douglas Cairns as winner of the Anneliese Maier Research Prize and the Institute of Classical Philology already co-operated on topics in the field of Emotion Research which were discussed on several international and interdisciplinary events between 2019 and 2023 in Dresden. The final event took place in May in the form of a conference on "Emotions and Perceptions in the Greco-Roman World" (programme).

Invitations to the following workshops and conferences will be published separately in due course.
