Douglas Cairns continues his fellowship in Dresden
After his first stay last year, we are delighted to welcome Prof. Douglas Cairns (Edinburgh) back to Dresden. The Senior Fellowship at the TUD, which was successfully acquired by the Departments of Classics and History in 2024, is thus being continued, and we would also like to draw your attention to two events:
- On May 20, 2025, Prof. Damien Nelis (Geneva) will lead a seminar "'The angry ploughman has carried off the timber': intertextuality, intratextuality, and emotion in Vergil, Georgics 2.207-211" in room WEB/K013 (14:50-16:20)
- On May 21, we will experience Prof. Nelis in a guest lecture on the topic: "Remembering the old war: Juno's anger and Augustan Rome in Vergil, Aeneid 1" in room HSZ/304 (6 pm)
We would like to thank the BMBF and the Free State of Saxony for making this project possible as part of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State governments.
