Generation Europe. German-French young talents - Class of 2025 -
On January 22, 2023, the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Emmanuel Macron launched the "Generation Europe: Young Franco-German Professionals" network in Paris. The second year of the program has now begun.
Over the past 60 years, Germany and France have proven that history is not destiny and that the present and future can be shaped together through commitment and courage. In the face of multiple challenges, we are looking for future-makers who are prepared to work together for a Europe of democracy, freedom and peace.
The network program coordinated by the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO) brings together bright minds, up-and-coming personalities and young committed professionals and/or volunteers living in Germany or France. Each cohort is multidisciplinary and is made up of around 20 young, committed personalities from a wide range of areas of society. These include: Business, politics, civil society, administration, culture, climate and environmental protection, IT and artificial intelligence, science, media, sport or agriculture.
The members of the new cohort will take part in three seminars in Berlin, Paris and Warsaw in 2025. The events will focus on the topic of innovation, which will be explored in all its diversity through the various areas represented in the program. Participants will discuss what innovation means today and look at innovative initiatives that are emerging in France and Germany in the various sectors. They will also look at relevant innovations to strengthen Franco-German relations and how innovation can contribute to European sovereignty. The choice of the three cities emphasizes the importance of the Weimar Triangle and its strategic role for the future of Europe and also offers a new perspective on Franco-German relations.
The seminars serve as a platform for exchange between the participants and enable them to engage in a trusting dialog with high-ranking experts and established stakeholders from politics, culture, civil society and business. The exchange is intended to promote a comprehensive understanding of the challenges of Franco-German cooperation. The program offers participants the opportunity to exchange views on current issues in France and Germany and to make personal contacts. In doing so, they strengthen their intercultural skills and expand their knowledge of the neighboring country. They become part of an alumni network - consisting of the different cohorts - which supports bilateral relations in the long term and carries the Franco-German friendship into the future.
