Subject-specific Bachelor's programme at the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies

When you enrol for the winter semester 2020/2021, you will be able to choose from a wide range of subjects on the Bachelor's degree course in Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies. In addition to the 1st and optional 2nd main subjects: English and American Studies, German Studies, Classical Philology, Romance Studies and Slavic Studies, you can also choose Protestant Theology, History, Catholic Theology, Art History, Media Studies or Philosophy for your 2nd main subject.

Brief profile: The Bachelor's degree program "Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies"
- is a modularized degree program comprising six semesters and 180 credit points.
- It is a first professionally qualifying university degree and also forms the basis for the faculty's Master's degree program.
- allows for a wide range of specializations and flexible study options. The five main subjects English and American Studies, German Studies (admission restricted by local NC), Classical Philology, Romance Studies and Slavic Studies can be freely combined with each other.
- allows students to choose parts of their studies (second major) from the range of subjects offered by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science.
- offers a more individual design in the area of general qualification than before; the free or optional sub-areas consist of the modules foreign languages, basic skills, internship, stay abroad. Detailed information on the General Qualifications section can be found under AQua and in the FAQs.
- AQua creates a cross-faculty, uniform credit system for examinations that corresponds to the credit system for teacher training courses with a state degree.

Note: The subjects Musicology, Political Science, Law and Sociology offered by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science cannot be combined with subjects offered by the Faculty of SLK.
Discontinued degree programs

- Older regulations of the expiring Bachelor's degree programs can be found under Regulations.
- The Law sub-subject, which was offered for the first time in winter semester 2016/17, offers you an intercultural and practice-oriented course of study in combination with Philology. You will acquire skills in various fundamental areas of law and gain an understanding of interdisciplinary contexts through the interdisciplinary focus. Enrolment from the winter semester 2017/2018 is no longer possible.
