Examinations
While you can register online for most of your exams, there are exceptions, for example in the AQua area or in the supplementary area of the Master's programme. You can find all information about the examination offices and about the registration and recognition of your examined assessments here:
Examinations
All institutes of the Faculty expect their students to work in a correct and academic manner. This means that students engage with a topic critically and in detail, commit themselves to objectivity in their work and produce their papers independently without outside help. This independence must be assured in writing at the end of each paper by means of a declaration of authorship.
Academic writing includes accurate marking of quotations and paraphrases from other works. If this is not done, the paper in question is a plagiarism and thus an attempt to defraud, which results in de-registration. The Faculty's plagiarism guideline specifies what constitutes plagiarism and the procedure to be followed in a case of plagiarism.
The formal criteria for marking citations and paraphrases (citation style, etc.) vary depending on the institute and the Chair. Please inform yourself at the relevant institution before writing your thesis.
Continuing education
TU Dresden offers you the opportunity to continue your education free of charge even beyond your degree programme, to gain new skills or to deepen already existing ones.
As part of the language training at TU Dresden, TUDIAS offers students of all disciplines general and technical language training to accompany their studies. Depending on the desired degree, students have a one-time budget of up to 10 SWS (hours per week) for language courses of their choice. You can find more detailed information on the website of the Teaching Centre for Languages and Regional Studies (LSK). Registration via LSKonline is done here.
The supplementary area comprises courses which are designed as an offer in addition to the regular courses for the degree programmes with university examinations (Diplom, Bachelor, Master, etc.). Their intention is to broaden general education and to deepen the sense of responsibility in the development and application of scientific knowledge. You can find more detailed information on the extensive range of courses offered here.
With a wide range of offers, the Career Service of TU Dresden prepares students individually for their career start and the associated challenges.
It is often possible to have attended courses credited within the AQua area or the supplementary area.
Studying and more
Studying in Dresden is not just limited to the courses offered by your faculty. The University and other Dresden institutions provide a productive study environment that offers you numerous opportunities to shape your student life individually.
The Students' Council and the Faculty Students' Council are the elected student representatives in higher education policy. They promote the interests of the students and are their contacts. Every student can become a part of the StuRa or the FSR, or decide on their representatives in the annual elections.
The Students' Council of TU Dresden is acting across faculties and takes care of issues such as studying with a child or political education.
The Faculty students' councils, in turn, represent their student body. In the case of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies (SLK), this is the FSR SpraLiKuWi, which, for example, advises the students of the Faculty on study matters or organises cultural events.
The Staff Unit International Affairs of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies offers students the opportunity to pass part of their studies or do an internship abroad. In addition, the Staff Unit runs the Buddy Programme, which links Dresden and international students.
The University Sports Centre offers a variety of sports activities for students. It is thus a cost-effective alternative to non-university sports activities and enables networking between students of all faculties. Registration is required at the beginning of each semester.
The Studentenwerk offers an extensive cultural programme and numerous canteens as well as help with practical questions about everyday university life such as financing (BAföG), finding a student hall, or studying with a child.
